67-Year-Old Man Arrested on Drug Charges

It is not uncommon for people in Nebraska to hold stereotypes in their minds about people who may be involved with illegal drugs. However, these stereotypes are often incorrect. For example, it may be thought that a person using or maybe even selling methamphetamine is likely very young. While certainly some meth users are young, that is not at all inclusive of all people who may ultimately be charged with meth-related crimes.

Recently, a man who is 67 years old was booked into Lincoln County jail and charged with multiple offenses after officers reportedly found evidence of methamphetamine to which the defendant is said to be connected. The man's bond was set at $75,000. It is not known if he has yet posted bond or if he is still in jail. He is also accused of possessing a handgun when he is not supposed to have any deadly weapon. This ban on his ability to possess a weapon is due to a prior felony record.

Reports suggest that items like baggies, scales and syringes were found and believed to contain some methamphetamine. There was also a large sum of money in cash found along with prescription medications. No actual official prescriptions were found to accompany the medications.

Certainly the report in this case offers only some details and paints a negative picture for the defendant. However, people in this type of situation might want to talk with an attorney who can understand and uncover additional details.
